Our latest special was produced for Tom Houghton
Tom Houghton
Affinity Media were amazing. The day of filming was really smooth and easy. The camera angles were great, the audio sounds great, and the edit is fantastic. I’m very happy with the final edit. It’s definitely my best special so far!
Thomas Henry
It was great to meet the Affinity team, they looked after us so well with the filming. They were brilliant and really appreciate all their work on my special. I’ll always recommend Affinity Media.
Gary Rowntree
I’ve produced 3 specials, and 4 showreels with David and Affinity. They’ve also produced social media clips which have gone viral multiple times. Every show and edit has been top-class. I won’t go anywhere else.

Producing stand-up comedy specials is what we do best!
Most of the work that goes into recording your special is actually done before the cameras even start rolling. We’ll make sure we have a good understanding of your set and your style, as well as any preferences around the filming style. We have a dedicated team of videographers who are ready to capture your show at its absolute best. We typically have a minimum of 5 camera angles, along with a fully dedicated audio engineer, making sure both you and the audience are heard perfectly.
Always leave them wanting more…
No special is complete without the trailers to promote it. We work with you to craft a fully custom trailer to suit your show.
We’ll include the best parts of your show, without giving too much away.
We produce both a widescreen and vertical version of your trailer, to ensure maximum coverage across social media.
We all know the struggle of making your content stand out online. Thumbnails are the first thing that your audience will see, so it’s important you make them click.
As part of our full package, we include a batch of thumbnails for listing your special on YouTube.
We give you 5 unique thumbnail designs to use across your YouTube channel.
Producing the special itself is only half the work. The real work begins when you try to promote it.
We specialise in growing brands and businesses online using social media. We’ve produced thousands of social media clips, and generated millions of views online. As part of our full package, we’ll produce as many social media clips as we can possibly create from your show.
In this video, we share how we filmed Tom Houghton’s latest stand-up special: “DEEP”. We look at how we came to decide on camera angles, and the challenges we faced throughout the production.
Alongside the full special, we also produced Tom a trailer, viral-ready social media clips to promote the show, along with a handful of thumbnail designs for YouTube.

Before we ever turn a camera on, we spend time understanding your show.
Every comedian’s performance is different, and we want to capture each show properly.
During pre-production, we’ll work with you to identify key moments in the show, how you want them to look, and plan how we film them.
By the time we arrive on the day, we’re not just filming any other stand-up set. We’re filming YOUR stand-up set.
We shoot premium cinema cameras as a standard, with camera having some of the best operators in the game behind the lens.
The audio for your show is looked after by a dedicated audio professional, capturing a feed of your vocal mic, as well as installing additional mics in the room for audience reactions.
Once you step out on stage, you can rest easy knowing that all the hard work has been done in the planning, making filming the show itself, the easy part.
Once your show has been filmed, we move into the post-production phase.
You’ll receive scheduled review points throughout the edit. We’ll always agree feedback deadlines in advance to keep the project moving and ensure delivery dates stay on track.
When you receive the drafts of your special, you’ll be able to review and feedback your videos online, through our dedicated portal platform. You can make notes of sections you’d like changed or removed.
We aim to get your first draft completed within 4 weeks of the show. Priority turnaround options are available. We aim to get your project complete within 2 rounds of revisions. Additional rounds of revisions are available at a cost.
In our ‘done for you’ packages, we move on to creating all of the supporting content – like trailers, promos and social media clips – once the main special has been signed off.
When everything is complete, you’ll receive a single handover folder containing all of your content.
We don’t believe every comedy special should look the same. We build visual identity of the production around your show, your brand and the audience you’re trying to reach.
Even if you’re still going with an ‘off the shelf’ package with us, you’ll still be able to fully customise your intros, outros with things like logos, music, animation styles.
We create graphics, transitions and visual elements that feel consistent with the style and personality of the show itself.
We can also create custom opening sequences and intros that help establish the tone of the special before you’ve even stepped on stage.
Ultimately, we want the finished product to feel like your special, not a template.
We’ve been producing stand-up comedy content for years and have worked on a wide range of live comedy productions – from small social clubs right through to big theatre shows, in some of the UK’s best venues.
That experience has helped us develop a production process specifically designed around comedy, from the way we capture audio through to the way we edit, pace and package the final special.
We’ve helped comics reach millions of views online, building their audience and following. You can check out our reviews, and can see examples of our work across our website. You can also follow us on social media, where we share break down the strategy behind some of the biggest comics’ success and their specials, as well as the behind-the-scenes of our projects, and how we film them.
A lot of people think a stand-up special is just a few cameras pointed at a stage and a decent edit afterwards — but the difference between something amateur and premium, is a bunch of small, compounded intentional decisions.
#1: Camera quality and camera movement
We avoid locked-off, static camera angles where possible. Every camera comes with a dedicated operator, which means we can follow the energy of the room, react to the performance, and capture moments dynamically rather than just documenting them.
#2: Audio
A great special should sound crystal clear. We capture audience mics throughout the room and then professionally mix everything so the laughter, timing, and atmosphere feel immersive without ever overpowering the performance.
#3: Crowd work and audience
Good crowd shots in low light are technically challenging, and knowing when to cut to the audience, and when not to, is a big part of making the room feel alive without distracting from the set.
#4: Editing
This is where a lot of specials either come alive or fall flat. It’s not just about cutting between angles — it’s about understanding rhythm, timing, pauses, and the subtle beats that make stand-up work. A good edit knows when to stay on a reaction, when to let a pause breathe, and how to keep momentum without rushing the audience.
#5: Branding and presentation
Finally, branding and presentation matter more than most people realise. Title cards, intros, transitions and visual identity shouldn’t feel like an afterthought — they should feel like part of the show itself. When it’s done properly, everything feels cohesive and intentional, not just stitched together footage.
