Connor Graham Music Video

“Affinity Media set the standard. I would recommend them to anyone.”

Overview

  • Music video project for a charity single by local singer Connor Graham.
  • Combined weeks of storyboarding and planning with on-location filming.
  • Managed three actors across three set locations and 14 total scenes.
  • More than 72 hours of dedicated editing and colour grading.

The Challenge

When singer Connor Graham dedicated to raise funds for mental health charity, Mind, he needed a music video that could accompany his song ‘One Minute’. Though the piece had already been recorded, Connor recognised that a compelling music video would be the ideal way to appeal to a wider audience and to tell the story contained within the song.

Perhaps the biggest challenge, however, came from the ambitious festive deadline that meant we had less than one week from the first day of filming to release the finished music video.

Our Approach

As the project was aimed at fundraising for a charity, Affinity Media agreed to waive our fee in exchange for complete creative control over the filming process.

Our Director, David, is an avid musician and as such we were delighted to take part in this project. The video would feature a mother and daughter grieving the loss of their husband/father, with scenes taking place both in the past and present.

From that concept, we began storyboarding the entire music video, which took over three weeks of dedicated planning to account for the required shots and the logistics of the project.

However, as mentioned during the ‘challenge’ section, once filming began, we had less than one week to complete the video to ensure it could be released in time for the festive season.

With our pre-planning already done, we commenced with two full days of filming, managing three actors in three locations across 14 scenes. This was a test of every part of our videography expertise, requiring all of our organizational, social, and creative skills.

The Results

After filming more than 1.5TB worth of footage and navigating some problematic timeframes, we managed to edit and release the finished project in time for the festive period. Connor was delighted by the video and it has since went on to accumulate thousands of views on social media platforms, with all money raised going directly to mental health charity, Mind.

“Affinity Media has created an absolute masterpiece of a music video for my new song. The video helped create more traffic to my Facebook page and streaming platforms, and as a result a higher engagement overall.”
